In some ways, you can judge how innovative, creative and empowering your organization is by asking yourself “What do you need permission to do?” In some organizations, the answer to that question is, “everything.” That doesn’t work unless you are a super dangerous or secret job. Or…if you are hoping to get people on the team who don’t want to think for themselves: There are a lot of them out-there.
Instead, strive to create places where people have freedom to work, create, change, and grow within their area and have possibility to expand as they grow. In addition, smart people love to create the systems that will help them work to their best potential.
Give people permission to succeed.
