In honor of President’s Day weekend, I thought I’d pass on a few book recommendation’s for those of you interested in Presidential history.
All the President’s Children by Doug Weed: a great book on what happened to the children of the past president’s, what it was like to be a child of the president, and how it changes their lives. An easy and fun read.
Jacqueline Kennedy: Historic Conversations. This book is a compilation of interviews Mrs. Kennedy had with historian Arthur Schlesinger Jr. shortly after the assassination of President Kennedy.
It contains her observations about the President, his term in office and many of the historical figures of that time. Fascinating reading, and if you can listen to the interviews on audio book, I recommend it. Listening to the tapes of the interview, to Jackie Kennedy’s own voice, is mesmerizing.
Destiny of the Republic by Candice Millard: This is the book about the assassination of President James A. Garfield and the botched medical care he received. A very interesting story, well written.
What presidential books would you recommend to me? Let me know.
