Often when I’m invited to speak to a group I will get notes of encouragement afterward, but recently I received a wonderful poem that was from the heart, created by Robert Darrigan, after hearing me talk about the work of service we do at the Rescue Mission. Here is the poem:
Helping Hand
Most everyone has needed a helping hand,
As we have traveled along our way,
Hurting souls crying out,
Seeking a brand new day;
Fellow beggars reaching out,
For someone to truly care,
To give them a Helping Hand,
And let them know we’re there;
To be part of the solution,
An offering to a hungry thirsty soul,
A warm secure house of peace,
A place to make them whole;
We can never predict the ending.
But we should give it a try,
And bring to each a caring heart,
To help them reach the sky!
Thank you Robert for sending me this wonderful poem. It has been an encouragement to me.
