1. Limited Cell Minutes. Since your phone is in your pocket at all times, you don’t even have to walk across the room. You do however, need to watch those minutes. (Call and encourage someone today.)
2. Sore Thumbs from Texting. If you send someone a text of encouragement it will aggravate your already sore thumbs. (Send a text of encouragement today)
3. Writing Notes is Old Fashioned. Nobody writes notes anymore, little cards that tell someone you appreciate their effort, personality, and friendship. You’re off the hook. (Be old-school and send someone a note today)
4. You Already Told Them Once Before. They remember last time you told them…don’t they? (Say it again)
5. You Agreed with Someone Else’s Encouragement. Since you once agreed when someone else paid them a compliment, it’s not like they need to be reminded. No need to pile on. (Lavish others with love and encouragement today)
6. You don’t want to Interrupt. They’re probably busy doing stuff, and wouldn’t want to be interrupted doing that stuff to be told something they probably already know. (People do great work just so that one day they’ll be interrupted from doing that work to be told it’s great. interrupt, by all means)
7. You’re Cultivating an “Air of Mystery”. If you start encouraging others, your hard-earned reputation as aloof and mysterious will be diminished. (Don’t let people wonder if you appreciate them today)
8. There’s only 140 Characters, Be Careful. If you start tweeting and Facebooking encouragement, you’ll have a hard time doing it in under 140 characters. Better stick to repeating news stories and sports scores. (always use Social Media to Lift Others Up)
9. They’ll Think You’re Getting Soft. If you praise people for a job well done, they’ll assume you can be taken advantage of. (Encouraging others NEVER diminishes you, encourage)
10. You have a limited Vocabulary. You don’t know that many words, so you’re not sure what to say.(Keep it Simple, But say it)
