The coming weeks will bring changes to our Challenge Learning Center. Primarily, the changes will be based around a a shift in our teaching philosophy. Instead of the “Lecture” format of teaching, we will be designing our Learning Center around the different ways that people naturally learn, (Audio, Visual, Active Participation). Since many of our students did not thrive in typical classroom settings, we have to become more creative in how we help them break down the walls to learning. This will enable more students to get their GED’s, become readers, and get more excited about being a “life-long learner”. I started thinking about this after reading a book called, “The Way They Learn” by Cynthia Tobias. Cynthia is the expert on this subject and knows many different ways to help break down the fears people have about school. Fortunately, Cynthia lives in the Pacific Northwest and graciously agreed to come give us free consulting advice. Check out her website and look forward to some very positive changes in the Challenge Learning Center. David
